New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas's new series begins during the most magical time of year ![]() ![]() ![]() Y’all I LOVED THIS ONE! King and Sophie were such good characters, and I loved their POVs. They end up stuck traveling together despite not liking each other. She tries to steal away a carriage and ends up stealing King’s (yes his name is King and I forgot the rest of it) carriage. Despite being the least scandalous of her sisters, she causes a ~scandal~ at a society event and she decides to just leave society and go back to the small town she grew up in. ![]() Plot: Sophie is the youngest and plainest of the Talbot sisters. But it does not matter because we are here now. I honestly think I would have gotten into historical romance a lot sooner if I had started with her books. Overall thoughts: I love Sarah MacLean’s books so much and reading this series was a joy. Which is lame because honestly reading almost all the Bridgerton books back to back was a grand time. I was going to put these in my historical mini review series (I have five parts up and am working on part six ooops) but since I read this whole series before I posted part six of the mini reviews, I figured might as well do a series review!! I usually don’t do these because there are months between me starting the series and finishing it. It follows a group of characters who are all part of various scandals and how it impacts their relationships with their love interests and with society itself. This is Sarah MacLean’s third historical romance series that was published between 20. ![]() ![]() ![]() Everything changes the day he meets a pretty, unfamiliar girl from a faraway land, only to realize that he’s the only one who can see her.įate has brought these young people together, but ancient magic threatens to rip them apart. The question, “Will Anna be saved?” by either Divine or earthly intervention, silently and meticulously engages the reader from the very outset. Such constructs the foundational plot -sufficient in itself however, entwined within, tendrils of loss, abuse, suspicion, suspense and mystery slowly emerge as secrets unfold. ![]() Lib Wright -with her experience of nursing alongside Florence Nightingale in the Crimean war, and sister Michael -a Catholic nun, embark on a complex quest to ascertain the truth within the confines of Anna's chamber, they alone must determine whether her purported phenomenal ability to remain alive for four months without food is indeed a miracle or a dastardly hoax. It is an all-encompassing, cinematographic contemplation of an innocent eleven-year-old girl’s consummate trust in the impetus of fasting and prayer her profound, obsessive and selfless tenacity to redeem her dead brother’s soul from purgatory infiltrates every grain of this compelling, harrowing narrative. ![]() ![]() Set in a small Irish hamlet in the mid 19th century some seven years after the 1845-1852 potato famine, ‘The Wonder’ depicts an era of poverty, superstition, Catholic doctrine and conviction, and, not least, that unfathomable chasm dividing believers and sceptics. ![]() ![]() ![]() But she won’t defy her father’s wishes, and sets her cap for the oldest lord she can find-a man who’ll die quickly and leave her alone to manage her inheritance. The last thing Georgia Duvall wants is to be married off to an English peer. She might even be quite pretty beneath the racetrack dust. Maybe Miss Georgia Duvall prefers being a jockey, is obstinate and high spirited, but once she’s cleaned up and presentable, he’ll have no trouble finding her a quality suitor. His brother-in-law offers him a deal: tutor his American ward in proper English customs, so she’ll be marriage material, and Will can have one of his horses. What could go wrong? Will Sutton, the Earl of Grandleigh, believes he can save the family’s impoverished estate by investing in a racehorse, but the price is too steep. Download The Earl s Wager Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle ![]() ![]() ![]() I like how the three couples come to an understanding with each other. Her quest for faith is interesting and I'm sure that many pastor's wives experience some of what she experiences. Ruthie is funny, organized and has a talent for working with people. She's a great mom to her kids and I like how she discovers her calling. ![]() At first, she comes across as dumb, but sh. Ginger is sweet and has a very sketchy background. However, she is extremely supportive of her husband, and is the brain behind many of the things that happen in their church. Candace is pushy, bossy and reminds me of one particular pastor's wife I knew growing up. I grew to really like all three characters. There are a few "bad" words in the book, though they are not awful, just in case any pastor's wives read it. I'm not sure if the author is a Christian or not, in all honesty. I read it in two days and really liked it a lot. I'm married to a minister, and couldn't help but check out the book, hoping it wasn't as cheesy as the title seemed. ![]() Review 1: The title of this book POPPED out as I perused one of the shelves in our local library. ![]() 5/26/2023 0 Comments The bourbon kings![]() The Bradford family is the crème de la crème of high society in Charlemont, Kentucky-just like their exclusive brand of bourbon.
